Popular styles for Eternity Band

Thank you all for joining me. I'm Mike Nekta, a third-generation diamond dealer with over 25 years of experience in the world of diamond jewelry.

When considering popular styles for Diamond Eternity bands, it's important to understand the concept of an Eternity Band - a diamond ring that showcases diamonds encircling the entire finger. Exploring the various styles of these eternity bands involves examining the different diamond settings employed.

Substitute Choice

One highly sought-after choice these days is a setting that minimizes the amount of gold on the ring. By "gold," I mean you can substitute it with platinum or any other precious metal your ring is made of. Most commonly, these options are available in platinum, yellow gold, or white gold.

Prongs

Prongs serve as the delicate posts that securely hold diamonds in place, relying solely on tension instead of glue. In high-quality Diamond Jewelry, prongs are used instead of adhesive. An incorrect setting would occur when the prongs hold the diamond on both its left and right sides. A simpler alternative to these intricate settings would involve the use of four prongs, each dedicated to holding an individual stone.

Design

The style of the Eternity Band is influenced by its design, with the diamond airline setting being the most popular choice. To create an eternity setting for diamonds or stones, an alternative approach is to incorporate basil within the frame of the precious metal, encircling the edges of each diamond completely.

The U-shaped setting is highly favored due to its resemblance to the letter "U" when viewed from the side profile. As a result, you'll notice a multitude of U's in this type of setting.

This setting resembles the letter H when viewed from the side, featuring a crossbar between the prongs, positioned just below the diamond's girdle.

Imagine a stunning arrangement where the stones or the Diamond Setter are set in a channel. Picture two walls of precious metals, solid and smooth, with a row of diamonds nestled in between. There is no metal separating each stone on the left or right side, only on the top and bottom. Each precious gem is embraced by the elegance of fine metalwork.

Factors in Diamond Shapes

The most common and popular version features round brilliant-cut diamonds. These circular-shaped diamonds are considered the basic option in today's market. The shared prong setting, commonly used by airline settings, is the most prevalent. Individual prongs dedicated to each diamond are rarely seen unless one desires a more vintage aesthetic.

Currently, among the various fancy-shaped stones, the emerald-cut diamond stands out as the most popular choice, closely followed by the oval-cut diamond.

Fancy-shaped diamonds typically have a lower per-carat price compared to round brilliant-cut diamonds. However, when it comes to crafting a diamond eternity band, sourcing identical fancy-shaped diamonds, such as the Emerald Cut or the old cuts, can be quite challenging. These shapes exhibit numerous variations.

  • Some ovals appear shorter and wider, while others are longer and slimmer.
  • Similarly, for rectangular Emerald Cut diamonds, one may possess an elongated shape resembling a tennis court, while another may have a slightly more squarish appearance.

In essence, the length-width ratio must remain nearly identical across the board. This is in contrast to round diamonds, where such issues do not arise.Designing a diamond eternity band is a meticulous process that requires gathering a complete row of identical diamonds. On average, about 17 diamonds are needed to achieve the desired look. It's not only crucial for them to align in terms of length and width, but also to exhibit similar color and clarity.

This careful selection and attention to detail ensure a stunning and cohesive appearance for the eternity band.

I rarely write reviews but working with Mike has been a true pleasure! My fiancé and I flew from Austin to meet with him - and we left with the most exquisite engagement ring! His craftsmanship is impeccable and his true passion for what he does is clearly apparent…not to mention how wonderful his client service is! He sized the ring on the spot and made sure that all the documentation (and the ring) made it safely to Texas. We are now having him create the wedding band of my dreams. If you are looking for exceptional artistry, a lovely experience and a collaborative relationship to design your jewelry - look no further than Mike Nekta!

I had a fantastic experience with Mike who helped us choose our diamond. He was informative, passionate, and genuinely wanted us to be happy with our decision. His kindness and positive attitude made the process enjoyable. We don’t live in his area so he went above and beyond by texting us to keep us informed of the whole creation process. Highly recommend him!

I just got my engagement ring through Mike Nekta and I can’t even begin to say how pleased I am! The entire experience has been wonderful from start to finish. First, the uniqueness and quality of the piece itself is outstanding. The pricing was surprisingly good considering all the factors involved. But most especially, Mike’s personal level of interest in pleasing us as his clients- you rarely find that level of personal service anymore! He cared about making my dream come true. He bent over backwards to make my dream ring possible for me! He clearly deals with elites who spend far more but it didn’t matter to him, he cared just as much about my purchase. I really appreciated that. I definitely plan to shop with Mike again!

Mike is the best! I told him exactly the type of Diamond I wanted for my solitaire engagement ring and he helped my fiancé find the best diamond to not only fit his budget but one I would fall in love with! He really listens to what you like and want and really does exceed to help fit those desires in a ring. Definitely will be coming back to him for our wedding bands and all future jewelry purchases!
